About Us:
HISTORY
STERLING CONCRETE SAWING AND DRILLING LTD. is a
construction service company established in 1980. Continuously active in
a wide range of concrete related projects, we operate in South
and South Western Ontario including locations between London and
Belleville.
Sterling Pardy formed the company in 1980, and like many
other new business owners he had to be a jack of all trades at
his work, including doing the office work as well as the work on
site. “It was definitely tough in the beginning, and involved a
lot of long hours,” says Pardy. “I started during a downtime in
the economy. After I made it through that period, I knew I could
make it any time.”
While concrete cutting was once the main focus, Sterling has
added several related services over the years. It is now a full
service company, which greatly benefits the requirements of
general contractors. Sterling says, “With us now offering a
complete construction service, we’ve been able to attract more
large projects.”
We are registered members of two unions in the Toronto
Building & Construction Trades Council: The Laborer's Union 506,
and the Plumbers & Pipe fitters Union Local 46. We are also
members of the Toronto and Mississauga Construction
Associations.
PERSONAL
Sterling Concrete Sawing and Drilling Ltd. is a family
business with Sterling Pardy as the President, although he never
calls himself that. Sterling spends most of his time on the
road, supporting his men on site, giving leadership, and meeting
his customers and prospects.
The office administration is headed by Sterling’s wife, Joyce
Pardy, who also finds time to handle personnel matters, wages
and corporate finances. Their son Dale Pardy is one of the
project managers of the company. Involved also as a site
superintendent from time to time, Dale operates machinery on
site when required, and takes on duties such as site visits and
take-offs for project estimates.
A native of Newfoundland and Labrador, Sterling Pardy was
involved in the concrete cutting and coring industry since he
was 18. After working for other people, he decided in 1980 that
it was time “to fly on my own.”
Sterling and Joyce have several grandchildren, all of whom they
adore. The also enjoy making annual visits back to visit other
family and friends “down East” when time permits.
