Extended Services:
Sterling Concrete Sawing and Drilling Ltd. would like to take
this opportunity to introduce some of the extended services that
we provide. About ten years ago, at the request of our
customers, we diversified from our core activity of sawing
drilling and excavation into various related services. Our crews
became trained to provide:
FLOORS
NEW FLOORS
There are three main types of floors that you can
request from us – regular, suspended and insulated. If
necessary, we will:
• excavate and insert compacted fill
• insert drains and/or pipes
• build custom forming
• drill and insert dowels to adjacent floor
• supply and install rebar or mesh steel reinforcing
• supply and pour the specified type of concrete
• supply and install surface hardeners if required
• slope to drains if required
• finish the concrete surface to the required smoothness (broom
finish, hand trowel finish, etc.)
• saw cut control joints
INSULATED FLOORS
For the construction of an insulated floor, we insert the
required vapour barrier and insulation below the poured
concrete. The selection of the correct materials for this
depends on the temperature differential that the room is
expected to have with the sub-floor environment during normal
operation.
EXISTING FLOORS
For existing concrete floors, we offer maintenance services as
follows:
• repair of cracks and spalls with concrete and/or resinous
repair materials
• diamond grinding to smooth finish
• re-slope floor to drains
• core drilling to allow insertion of machine anchors and other
fasteners.
• core drilling to enable placement of conduit or pipes
TRENCHES
TRENCHES IN CONCRETE
We are your number one call when you need any kind of concrete
trench. We use our cutting, excavating and extended service
skills frequently to construct various types of trenches.
• TRENCH DRAINS. Such drains are professionally planned and
designed by our team; they need to slope at an adequate rate,
and where necessary we would also examine the trench surface and
existing floor level with our laser scanner. We can also connect
your new drain to existing drains or install connecting pipes
your waste system or sewer. When you order, ask us about the
options, because we can supply and install the drain grating in
steel or FRP plastic. The trench can also be specially lined or
have an extruded plastic gutter inserted.
• CONDUIT TRENCH. For the protection of electrical, telephone
and data conduit, as well as for pipes, we can construct conduit
trenches in your concrete floor. Normally such trenches would
also have access hatches installed at intervals for maintenance.
CURBS
CONCRETE CURBS
Contact Sterling Concrete for any of your curb needs.
• CURB CUTTING. Curb cutting is often done as a part of a
demolition contract by us. However, we are happy to quote for
smaller jobs where you may only require a height adjustment for
a new entrance or sidewalk.
• CURB CONSTRUCTION. We can form and pour curbs for you.
Alternately, we can use our in-line machine. Ask for more
details. Where wheelchair or another type of access demands, we
can also construct a ramp, complete with safety rails.
• INSULATED CURBS. Where a curb is required as a protective
load-bearing foundation for insulated panels in a large freezer,
we insert the rigid foam insulation in the centre of the curb so
that it connects continuously to the existing floor insulation.
• FOOD STANDARD CURBS. We have the skills to construct curbs
with the required surfaces for sanitary hygiene to meet the
inspection standards of the CFIA for food processing plants.
PADS
To support small storage buildings, special equipment, lighting, pylon
signs, traffic signs etc., we can construct a concrete pad
inside or outside your building. We can also construct special
walled pads for chemical containment or flood protection.
FORMING
To avoid any delay in our concrete pouring projects, we have
in-house trained operators to design, construct and install all
types of concrete forms for your concrete work. All our forms
are inspected and approved for quality and workmanship by our
site superintendents before pouring begins.
Once the concrete has cured sufficiently, we remove the forms
and once more inspect the resulting structures before proceeding
with the next stage of the work.
REBAR
The selection and installation of the correct rebar for your
project is a skilled task. Material selection and correct
spacing of rebar is the responsibility of our in-house estimators and
site superintendents, unless this is already specified in your
drawings etc.
