HOW DOES RADAR INSPECTION WORK?
Ground Penetrating Radar employs electromagnetic tools for
locating embedded objects in concrete. (For example conduits,
rebar, and pipes.) High frequency radar signals are directed
into the concrete. When reflected back to the device, the
signals create a clear image in real time. From the image, we
can also determine the thickness of the concrete and the exact
spacing of concrete. The signals can penetrate up to 24 inches
from one side. This can be combined to examine up to 48 inch
thicknesses when access is given from both sides.
SAFETY OF INSPECTIONS
Radar inspection has no residual effects on any objects such as
computer equipment, hard drives, tapes, etc. Since it produces
no radiation, it can be used at any time during the day or
night. Therefore it can be used in any type of construction
project, including in office buildings, hospitals, condominiums
and manufacturing plants.
